The Local Area
The departments of Aveyron and Lot attract visitors throughout the year and for very good reason: the countryside is fabulous with its river valleys and gorges, its forests and clearings. They are home to numerous Medieval towns steeped in history with churches, castles and winding streets with fascinating architecture asking to be explored. Climb the rock at St. Cirq Lapopie or marvel at the views of Rocamadour. Visit the Treasures of Conques, explore Villefranche on market day and climb the church tower or sit in a café in Cajarc and watch the world go by.
For those into walking and cycling the region is unmatched. The GR 65 - one of the pilgrim routes to Santiago del Compostella - is nearby and offers beautiful ridgetop walks. Alternatively, step out onto the footpath outside the back gate. It leads onto miles of hiking and riding footpaths and tracks. If you are lucky you might startle a deer or even a wild boar.
Birdwatchers will not be disappointed and the flora of the area is diverse and ever-changing throughout the year.
